MORE ABOUT HOW WE CAN WORK TOGETHER

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A combination of studies found that online counseling was just as effective as face-to-face counseling for reduction of symptoms, especially related to anxiety and processing trauma and grief.

  • Not at this time. All sessions are conducted virtually.

  • My fee for services are $150 for our first session, and $135 for subsequent sessions. The first meeting together involves getting to know you by collecting some information about who you are and how you’ve decided to seek services. I then create a unique treatment plan specific to your needs.

  • Before our first appointment, I will send you a link to the secure client portal where you can fill out the paperwork ahead of time. At your first appointment, we can spend a few minutes addressing any questions you may have and then delve into what brought you to therapy and how I can help. I will also ask you some background questions to better understand the past and present that could contribute to how you feel. My clients generally leave their first session feeling relieved to have opened up about their concerns and have a new perspective to reflect on.

  • Of course you can get better! I would have the worst job in the world if people didn't. That being said, counseling is a journey, and each person’s journey is different.. Part of the intake process is determining your goals and setting expectations together about how long therapy may take.

  • Online sessions take place using a HIPAA-secure platform, like Skype or Zoom. Before your scheduled appointment, a private link will be sent to your email. Simply click the link to enter our virtual therapy room at the scheduled time. You need strong WIFI, a quiet space, and a phone, tablet, or computer to access your client portal and start your session.

Whether you live in Illinois, Washington, or Florid; therapy is available to you online. Online therapy gives you access to the support you need when you need it. Some people prefer the flexibility of online sessions especially when dealing with childcare needs, varying work schedules, or transportation difficulties. Others feel more comfortable discussing issues from the familiarity of their home. Whatever the reason, online therapy is still an effective alternative to in-person therapy.

  • Yes! I am in a network with United Healthcare, Oxford, Cigna, BCBS, Oscar Health, and Aetna in Illinois. In both Florida and Washington, I accept Optum, Aetna, and Cigna. I can give you a superbill to seek service reimbursement if you have a different insurance provider. We can further discuss insurance verification in our consult call.

  • For us to work together, your feet must be in Illinois, Washington, or Florida at our scheduled appointment. We can usually work our schedules around your upcoming travel plans.

  • Research indicates that therapeutic outcome is most influenced by "goodness of fit" between the client and therapist. My advice is to speak with a prospective therapist by phone first and trust your gut! Ask yourself: “Do I feel I can trust this person? Can I open up to them about what is going on? Will I respect their input?”
