Coping with Grief and Loss

When someone we love dies, our world tilts on its axis. Our feelings can be all over the map; one minute, we might feel unimaginable sadness, and the next feel anger or numbness. We are often expected to return to work, still unable to think clearly or concentrate, long before we are ready to function at total capacity again.

We grieve losses other than death too.

Grief Counseling encompasses many kinds of loss:

Significant life changes can bring feelings of loss that often go unacknowledged by others. This threatens to leave us all alone, wondering what is wrong with us for feeling the way we do.

  • Family estrangement

  • Loss of a job

  • Moving

  • Divorce

  • Betrayal of friends

  • New health diagnosis

  • Financial changes

I can help you on this challenging journey. Here are some signs that your grief may be overwhelming you:

  • Withdrawal from others, feeling isolated.

  • Difficulty taking care of your basic needs. or the needs of your family

  • Hopelessness and despair

  • Anxiety or panic attacks

  • Loss of appetite or trouble sleeping

We each grieve in our own way, and therapy can be a comforting space to make sense of your experience. I can help you safely process your grief at a pace that feels right for you and help you manage in other areas of your life.

You don't have to go through this alone. Together we can work towards healing and rebuilding yourself around your loss.

Grief counseling will help you:

  • Process the emotions associated with your loss

  • Discover your own strength and courage in the face of grief

  • Learn how to seek support from and feel connected to the people who love you

  • Gain confidence to re-enter the flow of life

  • Find meaning and integrate loss into your life as you move forward

  • Identify ways to honor and memorialize your loss, not minimize it

Together we can work towards healing and rebuilding yourself around the loss you have suffered.
